Each individual is born with a “genetic set point”, which roughly determines our lifelong, baseline level of happiness. It’s typically expressed as Biological 50% set by genes and how is our upbringing and that makes up our specific level of happiness, along with 10% life circumstances, living environment, society and another critical 40% is impacted by our “personal outlook, the way we THINK, FEEL and ACT.
Research suggests that people may not be able to alter their happiness set point and often the sudden increase or decrease in various factors might fluctuate their happiness level but their sense of well-being tended to return to their natural set-point levels after a period.
